Melvyn Bragg

Melvyn Bragg was a visitor to Thetford recently and took time out to visit the Dad's Army Museum.  Chairman Stuart Wright was his guide as he was filming a documentary on Thomas Paine upstairs in Thetford Guildhall (Walmington-on-Sea Town Hall).  The BBC programme to be broadcast in 2014 will chart the life of Thetford's most famous son.

Lodge’s Coaches

The museum was pleased to welcome Lodge’s Coaches (www.lodges.co.uk ) to the museum on Friday (June 14th).They came in their wonderful 1956 Bedford SB coach.After a morning walking tour we were able to take the coach on the Southern out of town location tour.

Is There Still Honey For Tea ?

In the bunker room of the museum we have the wishing well that featured in the episode Is There Still Honey For Tea ? Part of this episode was filmed The Lost Nurseries at East Wretham on June 11th 1975.Why come down to the museum and see one of the few props left from the series and some photographs taken on the day of filming.

We have been on the road again.

The museum team has been busy out on the road over the last few weeks.

On May 25th & May 26th we were are Weybourne on The Poppy Line to mark the anniversary of the making of the episode the Royal Train.

On June 1st and 2nd we were at the Muckleburgh Collection.

Finally it was off to the Rural Life Event at Euston near Thetford.
